Abstract: This study investigates the enduring impact of early childhood education (ECE) on the development of emotional intelligence (EI) in Nigerian children. The objective is to examine how early educational experiences influence emotional awareness, regulation, and interpersonal skills later in life. A survey research design is utilized to collect retrospective data from adults who attended ECE programs in Cross River State. A sample size of 300 respondents is purposively selected to represent diverse age groups and socioeconomic backgrounds. Findings reveal a significant correlation between quality ECE experiences, such as supportive teacher-child relationships and structured emotional learning activities, and higher EI outcomes in adulthood. Recommendations underscore the integration of EI curricula in ECE, continuous professional development for educators, and parent education on fostering emotional resilience in children.
